2021-08-21 12:04:48 onefang: Various animations rotate and shift the avatar in all sorts of ways, and the system has no way to know which way is "forward".  You have probably seen AOs with peoples "stand" has them going all over the place, turning around, moving around.  Yet their tag stays perfectly still, even if it's meters away from where the animation has taken them.  Dances have the avatars spinning around, leaping about, moving back and forth.

For my wedding the jumping over the broom animation I tried to put into my 1ring.  That was impossible to get lined up properly in 1ring.  The two avatars start facing one way, turn around to face the opposite way, turn 180 degrees yet again, run and leap over the broom, then stop.  Once the avatars actually stepped off the broom animation thing, they end up back where they started, coz they never actually moved anywhere.

Just like everything created or imported into SL or OpenSim, it's mostly amateurs who have no idea what they are doing.  So everything is all over the place.

So figuring out what "forwards" actually is is impossible.  I've gone with simple and consistent.  "Forwards" is one direction, the direction you would be moving in if you actually moved instead of adjusted.  It just doesn't matter which way the animations are facing the avatars, and there's no way to figure that out.

Simple and consistent is the best I can do.
